Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- ½ pound ground pork (or additional ground beef)
- ½ cup bread crumbs (or Panko bread crumbs)
- 1 large egg (beaten)
- ¼ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/16 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- pinch ground cloves
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon white pepper (or finely ground black pepper)
- 2 cups beef stock (*)
- ½ cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- chopped fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, pork, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, pepper, allspice, nutmeg, and cloves. Mix until well combined and form into 45-48 small meatballs, about 1-inch each.
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook half of the meatballs until browned on all sides, then transfer to a plate. Repeat with the remaining meatballs.
- In the same skillet, add the butter to the meat drippings. Whisk in the flour and pepper, cooking for 1 minute.
- Gradually add the beef stock, cream, and soy sauce while whisking, until the mixture is smooth.
- Add the meatballs back to the skillet, bring to a gentle boil, then cover and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Uncover and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens and the meatballs are cooked through. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Serve the meatballs over egg noodles or mashed potatoes and garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, let the meatball mixture rest for 15 minutes before cooking.
You can make the meatballs ahead of time and freeze them for quick dinners later.
Feel free to adjust spices according to your taste preferences.
