Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs skirt steak
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 cups drippings (from pot, add additional beef broth to make 2 full cups)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 3 tbsp cornstarch (to thicken in 1/4 cup water, or use arrowroot flour for gluten free option)
- 1 pinch salt (to taste)
- 1 pinch pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Slice the skirt steak in half lengthwise to fit in a single layer in the slow cooker.
- Sprinkle the skirt steak with the dry onion soup mix and pour the beef broth over it.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the meat is tender and easy to slice.
- To make the gravy, combine ingredients in a saucepan, keeping the cornstarch aside. Heat over medium-high and stir.
- Once bubbling, add the cornstarch mixed with water to thicken the gravy. Serve over the sliced skirt steak.
Notes
For added flavor, marinate the skirt steak in Worcestershire sauce before cooking.
Use arrowroot flour as a gluten-free alternative to cornstarch for thickening the gravy.
Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper according to your preference.
