Description

These Salty Potato Chip Rice Krispie Treats combine the classic sweetness of rice krispies with the delightful crunch of kettle cooked potato chips. Quick to prepare and perfect for any snack time or dessert occasion, they promise a unique twist on a beloved treat with a flavorful drizzle of chocolate on top.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 2 (10 ounce) bags mini marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups rice krispies cereal
  • 2 cups crushed kettle cooked potato chips
  • 2 ounces dark chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9×13 inch pan with nonstick baking spray.
  2. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat, letting it bubble until brown bits appear, then reduce heat to low.
  3. Add 1 bag of marshmallows and ¼ of the second bag to the melted butter and stir until creamy and fully melted, then turn off the heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Mix in the rice krispies cereal with a large spatula. When halfway mixed, add the crushed potato chips and continue to combine until evenly distributed.
  5. Add the remaining marshmallows and stir until incorporated, then press the mixture into the prepared pan using wax or parchment paper to smooth the top.
  6. Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring after each until smooth, then drizzle over the rice krispy treats.
  7. Once the chocolate is set, cut into squares and enjoy.

Notes

To avoid sticking, use a spoon coated with nonstick spray when pressing the mixture into the pan.
Feel free to substitute regular potato chips if kettle cooked aren’t available.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
