Description

This Red, White and Blue Fruit Salad features a delightful mix of fresh fruits, making it the ideal summer side dish. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for celebrations, showcasing watermelon, strawberries, and blueberries that create a striking visual appeal. Enjoy this flavorful and healthy option for any gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small seedless watermelon or 1/2 of a large watermelon
  • 8 apples optionally reserve 1 for making stars
  • ½ yellow honeydew melon
  • 4 cups strawberries stems removed
  • 2 cups raspberries
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 1 cup red grapes
  • 1 cup blackberries
  • lemon juice for soaking apples, 1 tablespoon per 1 cup of water

Instructions

  1. Wash all the fruit and allow it to dry.
  2. Cut the watermelon, apples, and honeydew melon into small squares. Slice strawberries based on size preference. If not serving immediately, soak sliced apples in a mixture of lemon juice and water for at least 10 minutes afterwards. Use 1 tablespoon of lemon juice per 1 cup of water for the soaking solution.
  3. Arrange the blueberries and blackberries at the top left of your serving dish. Layer with alternating red, white, and red fruits horizontally until the dish is filled or desired fruit is used up.
  4. To create stars, cut one apple along the equator, stem up, with a star cookie cutter. Place the star pieces atop the blue layer to finish the flag design.

Notes

Using a mix of fruits provides an array of flavors and textures, enhancing the salad’s appeal.
For a festive touch, consider adding mint leaves for garnish or a splash of coconut water for extra refreshment.
This salad is best served immediately but will last in the fridge for a few hours if covered.
