Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water, warm (about 110 degrees F)
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons avocado oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions
- In a bowl of a stand mixer, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Mix and let it sit until bubbly, about 5 minutes.
- Add oil, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix, then incorporate 2 cups of flour using a dough hook attachment. The dough will be sticky.
- Gradually add up to 2/3 cup of flour until the dough pulls away from the bowl. Mix on low for 2 minutes to knead, then cover and let it rise for 20-30 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9" x 13" baking dish with butter or non-stick oil.
- Transfer the dough to a flat surface, divide into 15 pieces, and roll into balls. Place in the baking dish, spacing them evenly.
- Cover loosely and let rise in a warm place for 15-30 minutes until doubled. Brush with milk after rising.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and the internal temperature reads 190°F.
- Remove from the oven, let cool for 1-2 minutes, and brush tops with melted butter.
Notes
Be sure to use warm water, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
These rolls can be frozen after baking for later use, just reheat before serving.
For extra flavor, you can add herbs or garlic to the dough.
