Description

This Pear Crisp features deliciously sweet pears topped with a crunchy oat mixture, making it an easy and mouthwatering dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups pears (peeled and thinly sliced from 56 pears)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup rolled oats (gluten free, if needed)
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour (gluten free, if needed)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts (optional, chopped)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 2-quart baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the pears, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour this mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  3. In the same bowl, mix the oats, flour, and brown sugar. If using, add in the chopped pecans or walnuts.
  4. Cut the butter into the dry ingredients using a fork, pastry cutter, or your fingers until it forms a crumbly texture.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the crumble mixture over the pear mixture.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are hot and bubbling at the edges. Let cool slightly before serving.
  7. Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled.

Notes

Feel free to substitute the nuts based on your preference or dietary needs.
For an extra kick, add a splash of vanilla extract to the pear mixture before baking.
Serve with ice cream for a delightful dessert experience.
