This Peach Jam is an irresistible blend of fresh peaches and sugar, perfect for spreading on toast or using in desserts. Simple to make, it captures the delight of summer in a jar!
Ingredients
Scale
- 24 ounces fresh peaches (1 ½ pounds), peeled, pitted, and diced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1.75 ounces sure-jell powdered pectin
- 3 ½ cups granulated sugar
Instructions
- Peel, pit, and dice the peaches, then place them in a large pot. Crush the peaches with a potato masher or fork to your desired consistency.
- Stir in the lemon juice and pectin until evenly mixed.
- Set the pot over medium-high heat, stirring constantly until the mixture heats up, then bring it to a boil.
- Add the sugar all at once and stir until completely dissolved.
- Return the mixture to a full rolling boil and let it boil for 1 minute, stirring continuously to prevent sticking.
- Remove the pot from the heat and skim off any foam that may have formed on the surface.
- Pour the hot jam into clean mason jars, leaving about ¼ inch of space at the top. Wipe the rims and seal jars with lids.
- Allow the jars to cool to room temperature, then store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or in the freezer for up to 6 months.
Notes
Use ripe peaches for the best flavor and sweetness.
Make sure your jars are clean and dry to preserve the jam properly.
You can adjust the sugar according to your taste preference.
