Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pound chicken breasts to about ½ to ¾ inch thickness for even cooking or slice large chicken breasts in half horizontally.
  2. Season both sides of chicken with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Dredge chicken in flour lightly, shaking off excess.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add chicken and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden brown; chicken does not need to be fully cooked.
  5. Transfer chicken to a plate and set aside.

Notes

For extra flavor, use seasoned flour for dredging the chicken.
Feel free to substitute chicken broth with homemade for more depth of flavor.
Add mushrooms or vegetables to the gravy for additional texture and taste.
