Description

This Chicken Parmesan features perfectly breaded chicken, rich marinara sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese. It’s an easy dinner that brings the flavors of Italy to your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts pounded to 1/2-inch thickness
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour for dredging
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1.5 cups seasoned italian breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1.5 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.25 cup parmesan cheese grated, for topping
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, another with beaten eggs, and the last one with a mixture of breadcrumbs and 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.
  3. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shake off the excess, dip into the beaten eggs, and then fully coat in the breadcrumb-Parmesan mixture, pressing gently for adherence.
  4. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken until golden brown on each side for about 3–4 minutes. Drain on paper towels afterwards.
  5. Spread a thin layer of marinara on the baking sheet, place the fried chicken on top, and spoon 2–3 tablespoons of marinara over each cutlet. Top with shredded mozzarella and a sprinkle of Parmesan.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and starting to brown. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (74°C).
  7. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

Using panko breadcrumbs offers extra crunch for your Chicken Parmesan.
For the best flavor, choose aged Parmesan cheese and high-quality marinara sauce.
Letting the chicken rest after baking ensures juiciness upon serving.
