Description

Carmelitas are a delightful dessert featuring layers of cookie dough, gooey caramel, and rich chocolate chips. This easy recipe is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth and impressing guests with its irresistible flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 30 ounces chocolate chip cookie dough
  • 11 ounces caramels
  • ¼ cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Slice a little more than half of the cookie dough into 1/4" rounds and arrange them in a single layer in a parchment-lined 9-inch square baking pan.
  3. Press the cookie dough into a single, solid, even layer.
  4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  5. In a microwave-safe container, combine unwrapped caramels and evaporated milk. Heat on high for 1 minute, then stir and continue heating in 30-second intervals until fully melted.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the slightly cooled cookie crust.
  7. Drizzle the melted caramel over the chocolate chips.
  8. Crumble the remaining cookie dough over the caramel. It doesn't need to be perfect.
  9. Return to the oven and bake for another 12-15 minutes or until slightly golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Cut and enjoy after sitting out for 15 minutes.

Notes

Make sure to use parchment paper for easy removal from the pan.
Can substitute homemade cookie dough for store-bought if desired.
Chilling the Carmelitas ensures a better cutting experience.
