Description
Caramel Apple Trifles are a delightful dessert combining soft apples, cake, and creamy Cool Whip. This treat is perfect for anyone craving a sweet yet easy-to-make dessert at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 granny smith apples
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- pinch of nutmeg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 12 ounces pound cake
- 8 ounces cool whip
- 6 tablespoons caramel sauce
Instructions
- Peel and chop the apples into small cubes and place them in a medium saucepan.
- Add lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar to the apples and stir well.
- Simmer the mixture over medium heat for about 10 minutes until the apples soften and the sugar creates a syrup.
- Let the mixture cool slightly; it doesn't need to be cold.
- Cut the pound cake into bite-sized cubes.
- Fill a piping bag with Cool Whip (or use a zip-top bag with a snipped corner).
- Start layering in serving glasses: first pound cake cubes, then apple mixture, followed by a drizzle of caramel, and a layer of Cool Whip.
- Repeat the layers once more: pound cake, apples, caramel, and Cool Whip.
- Finish with a final drizzle of caramel on top and serve immediately or refrigerate.
Notes
Feel free to substitute the pound cake with any cake of your choice, such as white or angel food cake.
For extra flavor, consider adding chopped nuts or a sprinkle of sea salt with the caramel drizzle.
