- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1–2 tbsp water
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp apple juice
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 2 (16 oz) cans pillsbury grands buttermilk biscuits
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Generously coat the inside of a Bundt pan with non-stick spray.
- Peel, core, and dice the apples. Toss the apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add the apples. Cook for 8-10 minutes until tender; add 1 tbsp of water if they brown too quickly. Allow to cool slightly.
- Place half of the caramelized apples at the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Cut each biscuit into quarters.
- In a gallon Ziplock bag, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Add half of the quartered biscuits, shaking to coat them in the mixture. Evenly distribute into the pan.
- Layer the remaining caramelized apples on top.
- Coat the rest of the biscuit pieces and place them into the pan as well.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the brown sugar and melted butter. Stir until combined, then pour over the biscuits.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- After baking, let the monkey bread sit for a few minutes before inverting it onto a dinner plate.
- For the icing, whisk together the powdered sugar, apple juice, and vanilla; drizzle over the slightly cooled bread.
Notes
Use fresh apples for the best flavor and texture.
Adjust the amount of apple juice based on desired icing consistency.
