- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups oil
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 4 cups apples, peeled & chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a 9 x 13 pan with non-stick spray.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the oil, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and eggs until combined.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until well blended.
- Peel and chop enough apples to make 4 cups, then fold them into the batter.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by combining butter, brown sugar, sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir frequently, allowing the mixture to simmer. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Pour the glaze over the cake while it is still warm.
Notes
Ensure the apples are peeled and chopped evenly for uniform baking.
For added flavor, consider adding nuts or raisins into the batter.
Store leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature.
